Invitation from the President
The ROI is doing great things, and I invite you to join us at Booth 3639 at ASTRO 2017 to learn more about the ground-breaking research we are funding with the help of generous donors like you. We are excited to be included on the floor of the Innovation and Solution Showcase this year along with so many others who are also sharing advances that will move the field of radiation oncology forward.
At the ROI Booth, you can meet some of our exceptional researchers, try out the recently released RadOnc Toolbox app, and pick up copies of the award-winning manuscripts from our Value of RT Publication Awards that we ran in partnership with Advances in Radiation Oncology. See the Meet the Researcher schedule in this issue of The Visionary to find out when you can talk with one or all of the ROI investigators whose work fits with your interests.
In the Health Services Highlights session on Sunday, September 24 at 1:15 p.m. (Pacific) in Room 7 A/B, David Sher, MD, MPH will present the results of his ROI-funded study on the comparative effectiveness of primary radiation therapy and surgery for oropharyngeal cancer. Early results from the ROI research project led by Todd McNutt, PhD are on display in Poster 3627, “A Shape-Based Dose Model for the Prediction of High Grade Radiation Induced Xerostomia for Head and Neck Cancer Patients.”
We are proud to share at ASTRO 2017 how the ROI’s investments in research are paying off, and to show you the impact that your gift to the ROI is making for investigators who are conducting research that is critical to ensuring the future of our field. Your continued investment is essential because with your help, even more pioneering research can be funded.
You can support the ROI at ASTRO 2017 in a variety of ways.
- Join us on Monday morning for the 5K Run for the Future to Benefit the ROI; every dollar of your registration fee goes directly to the ROI.
- Make a donation in honor of an important person in your life—if you’re both at ASTRO 2017, come take a picture together at the ROI Booth!
- Become a member of the Founders’ Circle, a special giving club for donors making a gift of $12,500 or more, which will be matched dollar for dollar by ASTRO, so you will be recognized for double the amount.
You will be helping to fuel innovation that addresses the practical needs of radiation oncology in the changing health care landscape. Stop by the ROI Booth, 3639, in the Innovation and Solution Showcase to learn more about the investigators you are funding and how you can make a gift that will help grow our investment in practice-changing research.
See you in San Diego!
