Join the Competition for the 2019 ROI Publication Award

Who in radiation oncology published the best manuscript focused on communication, safety and quality, toxicity management, comparative effectiveness or value in the past year? That is the question the ROI seeks to answer with the 2019 Publication Award call for nominations. Enter the competition for this honor if you recently published an article on one of the ROI’s priority research topics that will have a lasting impact of the practice of radiation oncology.

The ROI is committed to investing in research that will help radiation oncology be a leader in the movement toward more patient-centered, quality health care and to improve outcomes for cancer patients. With the Publication Award, the ROI seeks to recognize the best scientific work in one of the priority areas for radiation oncology that form the ROI’s research agenda: communication, safety and quality, toxicity management, comparative effectiveness and value. Great research is being done in these areas now, and the goal of the ROI Publication Award is to honor those doing excellent work and to encourage others to take notice and get involved. The ROI was pleased to receive many high-quality nominations for the Publication Award in 2018 and is looking forward to another exciting competition this year.

The winner of the 2019 ROI Publication Award will be recognized at ASTRO’s 61st Annual Meeting in Chicago, featured in the fall issue of The Visionary and receive a $5,000 grant to be used on research that will build upon the work in the award-winning manuscript.

Self-nominations are accepted. Manuscripts must be published in a peer-reviewed journal and have a publication date between July 1, 2018 and June 30, 2019. The application is composed of a short online form on proposalCENTRAL, a copy of the manuscript, and a one-page statement of support for the nomination. See the complete eligibility and criteria in the Grants & Awards section of the website. The deadline for nominations is Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
