New Podcast Features ROI Researcher Todd McNutt, PhD
With support from the ROI, Todd McNutt, PhD, and his team are building machine learning models that make personalized, evidence-based predictions of treatment toxicities related to weight loss in head and neck cancer patients. They are using data collected in the Oncospace system, a database and website that assembles patient data from the radiation oncology treatment planning system and clinical records. A focus of Dr. McNutt's ROI-funded research is to better understand how the spatial distribution of the radiation dose influences toxicities.
Advances in Radiation Oncology recently published results of the team's work and is highlighting the potentially practice-changing research in their new podcast. Hear Dr. McNutt discuss their voxel-based dose analysis in "Machine Learning Methods Uncover Radiomorphologic Dose Patterns in Salivary Glands that Predict Xerostomia in Patients with Head and Neck Cancer" with commentary from Advances associate senior editor, Matthew Studenski, PhD.
