Funding Opportunities
ROI awards grants to accelerate bold and innovative ideas in radiation therapy. Requests for Proposals (RFPs) are strategically developed to inspire research that is practical and has the potential to transform clinical practice and the care delivered to patients on a daily basis.
2025 Innovation Awards Will Expand Indications for RT
ROI issued the "Expanding Indications for Radiation Therapy" RFP in September 2024 and accepted letters of intent through November. The 2025 ROI Innovation Awards will support research to explore the use of radiation therapy to treat conditions other than cancer, including but not limited to osteoarthritis, ventricular tachycardia, tremors, and wet-type age-related macular degeneration. Although there is great promise for radiation therapy to be used to treat more than cancer, additional research is needed to establish efficacy, understand underlying mechanisms and implement delivery of the treatment to help more patients than ever live longer, healthier lives.
The 2025 ROI Innovation Awards will be given to the best and brightest investigators who have proposed research that will lead to a new indication for radiation therapy and expand the scope of practice beyond cancer care. Typical awards will be $50,000 over two years, but larger budgets will be considered up to a maximum of $150,000.
