Share Your Thoughts on the ROI’s Research Priorities
The Radiation Oncology Institute (ROI) is updating its Research Agenda to help ensure that the research supported is meeting the current needs of the field with the resources that are available thanks to the generosity of ROI donors. From the beginning, ROI has focused on high impact research that has significant potential to change the practice of radiation oncology and improve outcomes for patients with cancer. The annual requests for proposals have been guided by the set of priorities that make up the Research Agenda and were identified through a comprehensive needs assessment: communication, safety and quality, toxicity management, comparative effectiveness, and the value of radiotherapy. The Research Agenda has served ROI well over the past ten years, resulting in $4 million of research funded that has produced 90 presentations and publications and countless benefits for patients being treated with radiation. The field of radiation oncology has seen numerous changes in this time, and the recently funded projects are beginning to push the boundaries of the original Research Agenda. ROI is seeking feedback from the radiation oncology community to revise the Research Agenda through an updated National Radiation Oncology Research Needs Assessment survey.
Please take about ten minutes to share your opinions on research priorities for ROI by responding to the survey. The Needs Assessment survey is based on the existing ROI Research Agenda to assess its relevance while also collecting suggestions for new priorities. Help shape the future of ROI by participating in the survey now.
